Cycle along the Beautiful Danube River. The Wachau region of Austria between Melk and Vienna is known to be one of the most picturesque stretches of the legendary Danube, or Donau river. So of course you’ll see it first-hand from a bikes-eye view! Some of the small towns near Rossatz are exceptionally cute and in such scenic settings. Another stretch east of there follows a paved biking-and-fishing path so near the river you could take a dip. Views along the way include steepled abbeys and villages across the river, green rows of terraced vineyards and the occasional riverboat making its way with the swift current. This fabulous section is known as Strudengau, near the town of Struden and ends in Ybbs. Other rides include a climb up to Schallenburg and Schonbuhel castles and a wander through the relaxed Muhlviertel region. An hour of pure pedaling pleasure!
